Middle School Language Arts
Middle school is the bridge from elementary school to high school. It is a critical time of transition and identity formation. Grades 6-8 are the period of time when students are beginning to come into their own as thinkers, readers, writers, speakers, and listeners.
PLATO’s online language arts curriculum gives middle school students the tools and skills they need to become independent learners that can read, write, speak, and listen critically and persuasively. Language arts lessons from PLATO’s curriculum develop students’ capacity as literate individuals. Supported by PLATO’s online resources, teachers can develop students that:
- Demonstrate independence
- Build strong content knowledge
- Respond to the varying demands of audience, task, purpose, and discipline
- Comprehend as well as critique
- Value evidence
- Come to understand other perspectives and cultures
