CHPWLN 5.0.2 Patch

If you have Client-Hosted PLATO® Web Learning Network version 5.0, build 4.20.3, the CHPWLN 5.0.2 patch is now available at the PLATO® Support Center. The patch eliminates errors in CHPWLN generated by Internet Explorer® and Adobe® Shockwave Player 10.1.1 updates. This especially applies to errors that occurred with Macintosh® computers when using courses that require Adobe® Shockwave. This patch also corrects a number of courseware issues. If you do not install this patch, you may receive errors, courseware failure, or black screens when attempting to run courseware in CHPWLN. Also, see the instructions.

PLATO® Pathways I/O 103 Errors

There are several different variations on the I/O 103 error, the causes for it, and the solution. Some errors may be caused by incorrect settings on the file server and/or workstation. Incorrect rights or permissions may be assigned to users. File attributes may also be set incorrectly. It is also possible that a student's user record or the system's database records may have become corrupt. Take a look at the following knowledge articles that give information about I/O 103 Errors.

23640 - PW: I/O 103 Errors, Multiple Solutions

24336 - PW: I/O 103 Error When One Student Signs On

23293 - PW: EInOut Error, File Access Denied, I/O Error 103

25936 - PW: Permission Denied, Access Denied, Unable to Write to... ; File, Table, or Index Does Not Exist

Resetting and Ungrading PLATO® eduTest Assessments

When a student exits a test too early for it to be graded, a student logs in with the wrong log-on to take the test, or if errors display that say that the test could not be scored, you will have to contact PLATO Support to have the test ungraded or reset. The best way to do this is by sending PLATO Support an e-mail with all of the information needed. Take a look at the following articles to see what information you will need to gather before e-mailing PLATO Support.

27785 - EDUTEST: A Student Needs a Test to be Ungraded

27419 - EDUTEST: Request to Reset Test (e.g. Student Clicked "Grade" When Trying to Save Test)

Installing Plug-Ins Required to Run PLATO Learning Environment™ (PLE™) Lessons

You may receive an error when attempting to run a lesson on PLE because the plug-ins the lessons require to run have not been installed yet. Clicking OK to these messages will navigate you to the installation files for the plug-ins. However, administrative rights are needed to install the plug-ins. System or network administrators should pre-install plug-ins on student workstations. Links to the latest versions of required plug-ins for PLE can be found in the PLE System Requirements.

How Much Bandwidth is Enough?

No matter what platform you are using, there are many issues that can be avoided if there is enough bandwidth. Many factors determine the actual bandwidth you have available and these factors are unique to your site. Inadequate bandwidth and throughput will cause your PLATO Learning product to run very slowly. Delays in transmission may occur, and error messages may display when students try to run courseware. The following knowledge articles, white paper and quick reference will help you determine what your available bandwidth is.
