PLATO Learning Honored With BESSIE Awards

Straight Curve™ Mathematics Series 1 (K–2), Straight Curve™ Mathematics Series 2 (3–6), PLATO® Course: American History 2A, PLATO® Course: Biology A, and PLATOŽ Test Packs with Prescriptions on the PLATO Learning Environment™ were all named 2007 ComputED Gazette BESSIE Award winners. The ComputED Gazette BESSIE Awards target innovative and content-rich programs and web sites that provide parents and teachers with technology to foster educational excellence. Winners are selected from titles submitted by software publishers around the world.

• Straight Curve Mathematics—PLATO Learning's teacher-facilitated instructional supplement for grades K–6—received two awards, one each in the Early Elementary and Upper Elementary categories.
• PLATO Courses—self-paced, out-of-the-box, whole semester courses that allow students to concentrate on their skill gaps and complete course requirements quickly—also won two awards in the High School category for American History Web site and Science Web site.
• PLATO Test Packs with Prescriptions on PLE™—grade-level reading/language arts and mathematics fixed benchmark assessments for grades 2-11 that provide personalized, prescriptive assignments to PLATO® content-won in the Teacher Tools category for best Assessment Tool.
