PLATO Earth and Space Science Wins 2006 Technology and Learning Award of Excellence

We are happy to announce that PLATO Earth and Space science was named a 2006 Award of Excellence winner by Technology and Learning magazine.

In its 24th year, the Awards of Excellence Program honors curriculum products that break new ground and are best-of-breed examples that demonstrate clear superiority over similar products in the market. Winners are chosen by over 35 educators who test drive the curriculum entries. "This year's educator-judges certainly gave all entries a grueling test-drive," said Technology and Learning editor-in-chief Susan McLester. "These award winners reflect the highest quality in education technology products today."

PLATO Earth and Space Science is designed to engage students by bringing science concepts to life and helping them prepare to meet more stringent science performance standards. It uses theme-based scenarios to engage students in scientific inquiry, problem solving and critical thinking. The hands-on learning environment offers animation, video, narrations and interactions to demonstrate concepts, enhance lectures, engage learners and deepen understanding. A narrated glossary gives students confidence with scientific terms and teachers can access the sophisticated test-item bank to assign objective-based pre and post tests to determine level of understanding and prescribe appropriate instruction. PLATO Earth and Space Science is part of the PLATO Middle School Science Series, which also includes PLATO Life Science and PLATO Physical Science. This is the 9th industry award the PLATO Middle School Science Series has received since its release.
