The University of California Office of the President (UCOP) Awards PLATO Learning Program Status as an Online Virtual Learning Provider

Online education solutions leader’s rigorous program meets UCOP’s “a-g” subject area requirements

MINNEAPOLIS – June 9, 2011 – PLATO Learning, a leading provider of education solutions, has been awarded as an official online virtual learning program provider for the University of California. PLATO’s rigorous online courses satisfy criteria for the University of California’s “a-g” subject area requirements, which ensure that students who take college preparatory courses in high school are well equipped for the UC’s first-year program covering a wide variety of academic subjects. The requirements are written to guide and enable high school students with a college prep background to enter the university as freshmen.

As an official online program provider for the University of California, PLATO’s courses are now eligible for review and listing on the “a-g” course website. Students will be able to take the courses to meet the University’s “a-g” entrance requirements. Fulfilling “a-g” requirements ensures “the student has attained a body of general knowledge that will provide breadth and perspective to new, more advanced study,” according to the University of California Curriculum Integrity Institute.
