Interview Tips
Use these tips for phone and face-to-face interviews to help prepare to present yourself as a strong candidate.
- Research the company before your interview. Use the company website and the job description to build up your knowledge of the company. Use your professional and personal networks to connect with someone who works at the company. This will help you formulate questions and better analyze if you’re right for the position and company.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the interview if it’s face-to-face. This will help you relax before the interview and show the interviewer that you value their time.
- Think of a list of strong, specific, and relevant examples of your skills and competencies that you can share with the interviewer.
- Prepare a list of questions to ask during the interview, such as: “What does a typical day look like in this role?” “What do you like best and least about the company?” “What kind of training would I receive in this position?”
- As the interview wraps up, close the interview by thanking the interviewer for their time, and let them know that you’re genuinely excited about the opportunity and why you’re the best candidate for the position.
- Follow up and send a thank you note within a day of the interview.
