GED overhaul underway

The General Educational Development (GED) program is undergoing its biggest overhaul in its 69 years. Not only is the content for the five subject matter tests being revamped and digitized, but professional development for GED instructors is also being updated. With an increased emphasis on post-secondary preparedness, the new program will have two passing points; the traditional one indicating high school equivalency, and a more rigorous one reflecting college and career readiness. The overhaul is occurring even while the debate on the value of the GED continues. Read more about the changes at Education Week.
